The Celebration of Light is a musical fireworks competition held annually in Vancouver, Canada. Like the Olympics, multiple countries bring their best to represent in the competition. The celebration’s been going on since 1990 and is globally recognized as the longest running off-shore fireworks competitions in the world. On average, about 1.4 million people head to Vancouver’s beautiful English Bay to watch the fireworks each year.

I was fortune enough to catch the Amsterdam performance this year from Royal Fireworks, which was a solid show! These are some of my favourite pictures from the event. This was my first time trying to catch fireworks on camera, so I tried a bunch of different angles and settings. It was also made doubly difficult by the setting of the sun…
